Short answer: every Bio Terrava project moves through three steps before a commercial plant is built: evaluate the problem and the feedstock, run bench-scale tests to find the process that works, and prove it at pilot scale. Capital for the next step is released only when the previous one has delivered evidence.
Step 1: evaluate and identify
We audit the feedstock and its contaminants, confirm the buyer’s specification, and screen sites for air approvals, logistics and power. This is engineering consultancy work, stamped by a licensed professional engineer.
Step 2: bench-scale testing
We pyrolyse the actual Ontario feedstock in the lab and send samples for independent proximate, ultimate and ash-fusion assays. The output is a process window that meets the specification, with certificates a mill can review.
Step 3: pilot before full scale
A 2,000 tonne-per-year pilot module produces bulk lots for furnace trials that typically run 6 to 12 months. Only after pilot validation do we take on EPC delivery of the commercial module.
What this means for investors
Milestone gates turn technical progress into checkable evidence: assay certificates, trial results, signed offtake. Our advanced media technologies are at TRL 4 today, and we are looking for partners to build the pilot.
